About Me and My Shop
My shop is located in the southwest portion of Vero Beach. My equipment and tools vary from antique tools from the turn of the century to other tools which are top of the line in my opinion.
My shop is full of history and memories from times past. I worked my entire adult life in the trades and specialized in "finish" work. I am a perfectionist and hopefully that shows in each piece I work on.
I enjoy looking at a piece that is delivered to me and try to understand the artists desire when he/she created it. From the most basic "Shaker" style pieces to the elaborate English pieces, I attempt to engage myself to find the true meaning and purpose of a hand carved piece.
You will see that I share my space with the "shop cat" PoDo. He arrived and loves to climb into the shavings from the table saw, any boxes lying around and loves to greet me in the morning with a little "nip".
Working with either an old or a new piece that I design gives me a sense of where the tree originated. Each piece is a living organism; wood moves and evolves so I attempt to always make adjustments to accomodate that which it intended to be.
To me, this is my calling and an art that I love. When you do what you love, you never have to work a day again in your life. My "work" is my release, passion and enthusiasm.
